Donald Trump as Our President Caligula

By Ron Unz
The Unz Review

December 17, 2025

Back when I was in college, more years ago than I'd like to consider, one of my majors was Classical History, and I did quite a lot of original research in that field. Then after I graduated and began my doctoral studies in Theoretical Physics, I took a little time to write up some of that work and published several articles in the leading scholarly journals.

The Uniqueness of the Cayman Islands

By Jeff Thomas
International Man

December 17, 2025

The Cayman Islands is an important jurisdiction to consider in your international diversification game plan.

While many countries around the world offer low taxes, Cayman stands apart because of its distinct history and culture that are vehemently opposed to direct taxation. We believe this makes it far more likely that these policies will endure-something other low-tax jurisdictions cannot necessarily promise.

Europe Is About to Commit Financial Self-Immolation And Its Leaders Know It

By Gerry Nolan

December 17, 2025

Italy's decision to stand with Belgium against the confiscation of Russian sovereign assets is not a diplomatic footnote. It is a moment of clarity breaking through the fog of performative morality that has engulfed Brussels.

Strip away the slogans and the truth is unavoidable: the seizure of Russian sovereign reserves will not change the course of the war in Ukraine by a single inch.

The Surveillance State Is Making a Naughty List—and You're On It

By John & Nisha Whitehead
The Rutherford Institute

December 17, 2025

For generations, "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" has been treated as a playful reminder to children to be good because someone, somewhere, is watching.

Today, it reads less like a joke and more like a warning.

The Surveillance State is making a naughty list, and we're all on it.

Long before Santa's elves start loading his sleigh with toys for good girls and boys, the government's surveillance apparatus is already at work-logging your movements, monitoring your messages, tracking your purchases, scanning your face, recording your license plate, and feeding it all into algorithmic systems designed to determine whether you belong on a government watchlist.

Will the Us Hit a Deflationary Wall or Will the Fed Inflate Again in 2026 ?

By Brandon Smith

December 17, 2025

This article was written by Brandon Smith and originally published at Birch Gold Group

In a system dominated by Keynesian economics the word "deflation" is considered taboo; like saying Donald Trump's name out loud in a crowded Seattle yoga studio. The screeching reaction you will get is rarely worth the effort of arguing the point. Every element of modern financial policy is designed to prevent a deflationary event.

Ukraine's Anti-Corruption Investigation Appears To Be on the Brink of Implicating Zelensky

By Andrew Korybko
Andrew Korybko's Newsletter

December 17, 2025

The New York Times' recent report about his government's responsibility for the worst corruption scandal in Ukraine's history suggests that the walls are closing in and his foreign media allies are jumping ship out of desperation to retain some of their credibility after years of deifying him.

It was earlier assessed that "Ukraine's Anti-Corruption Investigation Is Turning Into A Rolling Coup" after it took down Zelensky's grey cardinal Andrey Yermak, consequently weakened the already shaky alliance keeping him in power, and thus placed more pressure upon him to cede Donbass.

On State Killing and the Rhetoric of Accountability

By Brandon Campbell
Ultimate-Survival

December 17, 2025

Oliver Webb-Carter wants you to believe that holding the SAS accountable for extra-judicial killings represents a perversion of justice. His recent piece on the Clonoe inquest performs a familiar ideological manoeuvre: present state assassination as reluctant necessity, frame legal scrutiny as persecution, position immunity from prosecution as operational requirement rather than political choice.

Defense Bill Includes Hundreds of Millions for Ukraine, Nato Countries, Israel, and More

By Paul Dragu
The New American

December 17, 2025

Americans have repeatedly been told that the days of sending money to Ukraine are over. Well, that's not true.

The 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which comes with a total sticker price of just over $900 billion, includes $800 million in aid to Ukraine over the next two years. The money continues funding the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which pays American companies to make weapons for Ukraine's military.

Flim Flam Theater of Peace Talks on Ukraine

Moon of Alabama

December 17, 2025

The negotiations over the weekend between the U.S., Ukraine and Europe about the parameters of a ceasefire or peace agreement with Russia were surreal. The three sides are fighting each other over detailed points that Russia is sure to reject. They also left out important points which Russia had named as its priority items.

There is no way that any of this will lead to peace.
